October 26-27
Marriott at Eagle Crest, Ypsilanti
About the 2010 Conference: The MichBio Expo and Conference is the largest single gathering of biosciences professionals in the state, attracting 530 participants and 57 exhibitors last year. Seventy percent of attendees are executives in biosciences companies, research institutions and universities with another 25 percent representing service providers and other related industries.
This year’s Expo spans two full days. In addition to tours of local life sciences companies, Day One features the Michigan Emerging Biosciences Showcase, where the best of Michigan’s new and emerging biosciences companies will present before an audience of venture capitalists, angel investors and institutional investors. One-on-one Business Partnering Meetings and an Innovations Poster Session will be offered throughout the day in addition to an afternoon Manufacturing Session where suppliers can learn more about the medical device and biotech sectors, and interact with OEM representatives. Topping off the day is the Gala Opening Reception followed by free time for more networking and sampling fare in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area. Chief executives of MichBio’s member bio companies will attend a special networking dinner in the evening.
Day Two begins with Breakfast Policy Forum followed by concurrent Track Sessions on Pharma, Medical Devices, and Bio-based Technology and Emerging Business topics. Lunch is followed by another round of Track Sessions, and the day is capped off with this year’s keynote address by Dr. Jeffrey E. Shuren, Director of the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health, and the closing reception. “Legislator if the Year”, “Innovator of the Year” and “Good to Great” awards will also be presented during the Conference. Watch for nomination information in future weeks.
Exhibit Hall The Exhibit Hall and active conference program are designed to create maximum exposure for exhibitors. The Opening Reception on Oct. 26 and networking breakfast, breaks and lunch on the 27th are all held in the Hall. With displays from a diverse group of bioscience companies and service providers, the Hall provides an excellent setting for connecting with industry decision makers, potential partners, and peers
